Rural Doctors Association members recognised with Australia Day Honours

The Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA) congratulates those Rural Doctors Association (RDA) members who have received Australia Day honours!

Dr Sue Harrison received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to rural medicine and Dr Jeff Robinson also received an OAM for his service to medicine.

In addition to the decades of medical care they have delivered in their own communities, both have also served on numerous health and other community organisations (including, for Jeff, the local bushfire brigade).

Both have been active Rural Doctors Association of Victoria (RDAV) members for many years, with Sue also serving as RDAV President from 2013 to 2017 (on top of her very significant service on both the RDAV and RDAA Boards).

Sue remains very active within RDAV (chairing its Mental Health Services working group) and also chairs RDAA’s Female Doctors Group.

Jeff is a past recipient of both the RDAA Rural Doctor of the Year Award and ACRRM-RDAA Peter Graham ‘Cohuna’ Award.

We also recognise and congratulate RDAQ member Dr Christine McConnell who was awarded an OAM for her service to medicine (including her long service with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia).

We send our warmest congratulations to each doctor on this significant recognition, and thank them for their very dedicated service to Rural Medicine and their communities over a long period of time.
